Operational Communications Planning

Plan. Assign.
Survive the jamming.

Mission-grade RF communications planning — built by military communications specialists, for the operators who need it most.

AETHER is a self-contained, browser-based RF planning suite that lets your S6 staff build, visualise, and brief a complete communications architecture — PACE frequencies, net plans, EW threat analysis, and equipment fill cards — in a single deployable file. No server. No cloud. No dependencies.

Communications planning is still done with spreadsheets.

Most tactical units still plan their radio nets in Excel, manage CEOI in Word documents, and visualise their network architecture on whiteboards. AETHER was built to fix that.

Without AETHER
  • PACE plans scattered across unlinked Excel sheets — no integrated view of Primary, Alternate, Contingency, and Emergency frequencies.
  • EW threat assessment done ad-hoc with no jamming susceptibility model or visual representation of threat coverage.
  • Network architecture drawn on whiteboards or PowerPoint with no live connection to the actual frequency data.
  • Radio fill cards typed manually and prone to transcription errors — leading to comms failures on Day 1 of the operation.
  • No systematic identification of single points of failure in the communication architecture before mission execution.
With AETHER
  • Integrated PACE tab assigns P / A / C / E roles to every carrier on every link with automatic completeness tracking and missing-role alerts.
  • Live jamming susceptibility map with a library of 40+ known EW systems. Threat circles on the map auto-flag affected links and nets.
  • Interactive network diagram with cloud hub net nodes, animated data flow, and live risk colour-coding — all linked to real frequency data.
  • One-click generation of printable frequency fill cards and NATO CEOI documents — data flows directly from the plan, no manual re-entry.
  • Automated SPOF analysis using graph theory — identifies articulation points and fragile single-carrier links before mission execution.

Designed for the operational environment.

Not for the procurement office.

Built by Military, for Military

AETHER was developed by operational CIS specialists with experience in NATO, EU, and bilateral communications planning. Every field, every workflow, every label reflects real S6 practice — not theoretical RF engineering.

🔐

Deployable on Secure Networks

A single, self-contained HTML file with no external dependencies and no data exfiltration risk. AETHER runs on NATO BICES, national SECRET intranets, air-gapped CIS networks, and any device with a modern browser — without installation, administrator rights, or internet access.

EW-Aware Planning

AETHER is one of the only planning tools to integrate Electronic Warfare threat analysis directly into the frequency plan. Position known jammer systems on the map, run a J/S calculation, and see exactly which links are at risk — before the mission starts.

🗺️

Plan to Brief in One Tool

From first node creation to printed frequency card, the entire planning-to-briefing cycle stays in AETHER. The F6 briefing overlay gives you a clean, presenter-ready mission communications summary — without leaving the tool or touching PowerPoint.

📡

Multi-Net, Multi-Role Architecture

Model real-world communications architectures with multiple simultaneous nets — CMD, LOG, FIRES, ISR, MEDEVAC — each with their own PACE frequencies, net control stations, and member entities, visualised as cloud hub nodes on the network diagram.

🛡️

Open Source, Community Driven

AETHER is freely available to all Allied units and partner nations. Modify it for your unit's specific SOPs, share improvements back to the community, and deploy it without licensing fees or vendor lock-in.

Every module your S6 needs.

A complete planning workflow from network architecture to field distribution — integrated in one file.

Net Planning

PACE frequencies on every net and link

Assign Primary, Alternate, Contingency, and Emergency frequencies independently to communication links and radio nets. The PACE tab tracks role completion across every link with automatic alerting for missing roles.

Radio nets (CMD NET, LOG NET, FIRES NET, ISR NET…) are modelled as cloud hub nodes in the network diagram, each carrying their own PACE frequency plan independent from point-to-point link frequencies.

  • P/A/C/E role assignment per carrier per link
  • Net-level PACE frequencies with waveform designators
  • Completeness indicator — missing roles flagged automatically
  • PACE Drill tracking with date stamps
  • CEOI export includes full PACE structure

EW Analysis

Integrated Electronic Warfare threat assessment

AETHER includes a library of 40+ known jammer systems — including the R-330Zh Zhitel, Krasukha-4, RB-341V Leer-3, and commercial COTS jammers — with open-source specifications for planning purposes.

Place threat circles on the operational map, set the jamming radius and affected bands, and AETHER automatically identifies which of your links and nets fall within the threat envelope.

  • Library of 40+ EW systems (RU, CN, US, COTS)
  • J/S ratio calculator per link and carrier
  • Visual threat circle overlay on the geospatial map
  • Automatic HIGH risk flagging for jammed links
  • ⚡ Jammed indicator on affected net cloud hub nodes

Distribution

NATO CEOI and radio fill cards — one click

AETHER generates a complete Communications-Electronics Operating Instructions document in NATO format directly from your plan data. No re-typing. No copy-paste errors. The same frequencies you planned are the ones that go into the CEOI.

Printable frequency fill cards are formatted for field distribution — one card per link, with all PACE roles, COMSEC parameters, and equipment listed in a clean, print-ready layout.

  • Full NATO CEOI export as plain text
  • Classification level selectable (UNCLAS / SECRET / TS)
  • Printable frequency cards per link — A4/Letter format
  • COMSEC key identifier field per carrier
  • A/B scenario compare for war-gaming frequency options
